Calibrating Procedure for 4D InSpec XL

If your 4D InSpec XL is taking measurements — that is, if it’s functioning — then it’s in calibration. Because we’re using polarized light as the measurement standard, nothing can go out of calibration. For this reason, 4D Technology doesn’t require calibration of your 4D InSpecs. However, some customers have quality requirements that specify that calibration is certified. We have a built-in calibration menu item that makes it quick and easy to verify calibration.

Applications Engineer Jared Kramer takes you step by step through the calibration procedure for 4D InSpec XL. In one respect, the 4D InSpec XL’s process is more forgiving: it is less susceptible to alignment errors in the calibration mask window. The menu choices are the same as for the standard 4D InSpec, but there is one more thing that is different: it’s important to ensure optimal focus.
